DoD - Probationary Employee - Hiring Freeze Exemption

Hola,

So I started my fed position back in October, leaving behind a private sector job I loved, but had looming threats of layoffs (wish I had just stayed at this point). But today we have been given an update that the Department of Defense is exempt from the hiring freeze under the National Security exemption, and I see they just put out 2 announcement for job openings.

Anyone that may have more experience in the DoD than I that can talk towards this whole "Sending a list of probationary employees" and how this lines up? I cant see them getting rid of probationary employees just to bring more on?
