ELI5: Why don't we restore ancient ruins?

Why don't we restore ancient ruins so people can see them as they were in their original glory?

I would love to see landmarks like the Colosseum, the Pyramids, the Parthenon, the Acropolis, and Pompeii with the great Majesty as they originally were.

Wouldn't that be more interesting than just seeing rocks and ruins?
