Reversing onto the drive (and not p*ssing anyone off)

New driver here and just had my driveway done so I can reverse onto it - it's a tight squeeze so I need to start from the normal driving position in the road. The road I live on is fairly busy one.

At the moment I slow down and indicate left before stopping - (but not moving left) to signal to the driver behind to go around me. I then put my car in reverse so the reversing lights come on and wait for the road to clear.

Is there any etiquette I can follow that says "I live here and I'm reversing onto my drive please stop flagging me off" or do I just need to accept people will be annoyed and move on?
