thoughts on slow-burns?

Personally, I love me an extreme slow-burn. It's my favourite trope and probably the main reason why I like enemies-to-lovers so much, since slow-burn kinda goes hand-in-hand with that. If the couple gets together too early in the story, I almost always end up losing interest in the fic. I guess I just live for the pining and angst.

Recently though I've realised I may have had a case of assuming everyone thinks the same way I do, lol (it could also be that I spent years on goodreads before I started reading fanfic, and a lot of reviewers see insta-love as a major flaw there, so I might be a little stuck in that mindset). on reddit I see lots of people say they don't like slow-burn for various reasons, and I do kind of get it -- sometimes it feels like the author is coming up with any excuse for them not to be together too early, which i fully admit is painful to get through.

anyway, i just wanted to hear everyone's thoughts on slowburns, whether you hate it or love it!! specifically in the context of drarry. to me, slow-burn makes for sense for them since they spent so long hating each other, but then I also get that Harry's opinions on Draco were beginning to change towards the end of the series. so, how do you feel about the trope? :)

(also, any less popular slowburn/enemies-to-lovers recs are welcome!)
