[No DAV Spoilers] WHY so hate?

Hello,
There’s something I don’t understand. I got introduced to Dragon Age in 2016, and since then, I’ve completed DAO (4 times), DA II (2 times), and DAI (3 times), and I’ve tried to read almost everything about the Dragon Age universe.

I’ve also played all of Bioware’s games like Baldur’s Gate, Mass Effect, etc. In fact, these games got me into 3D modeling and animation. Now, at 25 years old, after 10 years of following the Dragon Age universe, I’ve seen and understood how each game builds upon the last, introducing different gameplay mechanics and artistic styles. Some people say it’s “woke,” others focus on race, gameplay, or say that Bioware no longer cares about its fans, even claiming that the Dragon Age series isn’t what it used to be. And yes, this is somewhat true because times change, and it’s natural for the series to evolve and grow with those changes.

What I can’t understand is the criticism. As far back as I can remember, Bioware games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age always had elements of what people now call “woke culture,” yet suddenly this year, there’s been a surge of racist comments attacking the characters created for Veilguard, targeting their race, appearance, and so on.

I just can’t comprehend this hatred or why people are so intent on burying the game like this. It really frustrates me. There’s this excessive hate campaign going on, and sometimes I wonder, “Have I misunderstood Dragon Age all along?” when I see complaints like these. I just couldn’t hold back anymore and wanted to write here to hear your opinions as well. —————————————————————————

Btw: To speak about myself specifically, I live in Istanbul. Even though I live in a secular city, you're probably familiar with the culture of the general middle-aged and older population here. When I look at most of the people who are making these hateful videos or comments, they’re from Europe or America, countries with more modern and liberal societies. That’s why it feels strange to me. If I saw these kinds of reactions from a Turkish YouTuber or someone in Istanbul, I’d understand, but I don’t know... Sorry for rambling and wasting your time.
