Viability of pure melee bladesinger

Hi all, I just finished a campaign where I played a chronurgy wizard and really tried to optimize my build. It was fun, but I’m now looking to run a gish character and really don’t care if I’m running the most powerful version of the character that I can. I’m looking at eldritch knight and the college of swords bard, but something about the bladesinger just calls to me.

Having said that, I don’t want to repeat my previous character. I don’t want fireball, or really any offensive spells. I love the idea of a high-movement, agile, buff/debuff-focused melee character, relying on spells like booming blade, blur, haste etc etc.

I know that this isn’t the best way to play a bladesinger, but will it be fun, and will I be able to survive/help my party? We’re all experienced players and whilst we don’t take the game too seriously, I will definitely stand out if I handicap the group too much.
