Hijras demanded 20k after a wedding

So my uncle got married a few weeks ago, and the day after the wedding two or three hijras showed up to our house demanding money. Of-course, we denied to give them the original 20k they asked but they kept making a scene and eventually got inside the house too. They settled for 2k and left but ended up saying "Tum saare musalman aese hi ho, tumhe toh Yogi hi batayega." We even live in a gated society so I don't understand how they got in or why they do this?

This is something very unusual to me as I have never heard of anything like this happening. I did read a post on Reddit about this but this is the first experience I've had with something like this. I told my parents to tell the police but they said sometimes the police is also involved in this stuff. This is all so concerning and the way everyone thought this was normal was insane to me.

My family has deep respect for Hijras, they even believe that inki dua bhi bohut jaldi lagti hai aur baddua bhi bohut jaldi isliye they don't say anything about it. My aunt said the real ones are super nice, it's just the fake ones who do this for the sole purpose of getting money.

Edit: Asked my parents about this again, apparently the asking price was 1l but they still got it down to 2k.
