How would feasting and hunting increase a rulers legitimacy?

May be the mechanism makes more sense if you have the DLC? In the base game, the regular ways of boosting legitimacy are apparently eating and killing wild boars? That doesn't make sense. I can imagine something like a proclamation from the Pope may boost a rulers legitimacy but not eating and hunting. Winning wars against rebellion and high ranking rulers also boost legitimacy, but you don't get the opportunity regularly.
