Micro short film

Excited to share our latest project with you! A few months back, I realized I needed a creative break from the large-scale project I was working on, so I decided to take on something different—a micro short film. After some quick brainstorming, my partner and I decided to tackle it together, just the two of us, with the goal of keeping things as simple as possible.

I came up with a story that brought its own set of challenges. Every scene had to be shot either at sunrise or sunset, under very specific lighting conditions, to capture the exact look we envisioned. What we initially thought would be a quick, easy project turned into quite the adventure—just the two of us lugging over 20 kg of gear, cycling and hiking to remote, stunning locations.

On top of that, we shot everything handheld—a first for me—and I pushed things further by shooting wide open at f1.4 to create a dreamy effect. This made it even more challenging, as I had to pull my own focus while operating the camera and directing at the same time. We relied almost entirely on natural light, even for indoor scenes, except for a few moments like in the attic, where our key light was mostly a single red bulb.

I'll be adding some screenshots and links to YouTube and Vimeo for those who want to check it out. Hope you all enjoy it!
