Why do people complain the BRZ is underpowered, but not the Miata?

I happened to read some comments by a couple ding dongs on Facebook the other day ragging on the new (gen 2) BRZ for being slow and underpowered, and it made me realize I never really see people complain about the Miata being underpowered, despite it being slower than said BRZ. The Miata is also the more expensive car (and by a lot if you get RF and/or Brembo BBS package).

Anyway, it just made me wonder why that is. Is it because the Miata has been around forever and people just accept it for what it is? Also, why do people have such high standards for the BRZ despite it being a cheaper and more useable car? You can option a Miata all the way up to $42k and it will still only have 181hp, yet no one seems to complain. Why is it that these two cars are held to different standards despite intending to serve the same purpose- maximum driver enjoyment.

Let me know what you guys think. I absolutely love both cars, so no shade towards either of them. I just thought it's weird how differently these two very similar cars are perceived.
