Gadget advice: Is buying an iPhone worth it just because I have a Macbook?

Hello all,

Im a freelancer and I currently use a macbook (for stability and durability). Recently, i broke my android phone and im on the hunt for my next phone. As a lifelong android user, is it worth it to get an iphone just for the mac os continuity? I know that if I switch to the iphone i will be locked into this very expensive ecosystem (plus i dislike how restrictive it is)

Will i really miss out on a lot of features if I choose to stick with android (i just enjoy the freedom and customization) or are the benefits negligible?

Additional question: Would it be possible to use an esim (smart) + physical sim (gomo)??

Appreciate your thoughts and experiences!

Edit: Thank you so much to everyone who responded! A lot of really good points. At this point, I think I will go with the iPhone for the following reasons: Durability, Serviceability, higher resale value (incase I really hate it lol), and of course continuity with my MacBook. The 15 is coming out this September so I will wait to see if it's worth it. The rumored Type C port is already tempting since I only use type c gadgets but if that's the only TRUE innovation in the 15 (more pixels and "faster" processor does not count lol), i will purchase the 14 Pro instead at a lesser price.
