asswipe dog owner on bear peak summit (yet another off-leash dog rant)

sorry mods if this dumb vent is not allowed/discouraged, totally understand if it is removed. I just wanted to share my anecdote and commiserate as I know this type of thing has happened to lots of other people here!

I was coming down from the very icy bear peak summit (the boulder-y scramble part) today, when a guy with two large labs reached the top. one of the labs was well behaved and sat when the owned told it to, but the other bounded up and jumped on me as I was trying to stay upright on the icy boulders with my binoculars.

I am a tiny person, don't weigh very much, and was actually been attacked by an aggressive dog not too long ago. So I kinda froze out of nervousness. But I was scared shitless as I was standing on ice on the final scramble....I was wearing spikes, of course, but still, I was super nervous that I would get knocked down by this dog and seriously hurt.

the guy kept yelling "JACK, NO" and "DOWN," which didn't really help cause the dog kept backing off a bit for a second, then would run over to me repeatedly as I attempted to climb down. When I got back to the flatter area (also icy) to wait for my friend who was still at the top, the owner continued yelling "NO" as his dog kept attempting to jump on me while I was sitting and waiting for my friend.

I know that instead of just glaring at this entitled fucking asshole, I could've been more confrontational and told him to put his massive dog on a leash or grab it instead of fecklessly yelling NO, but I really really was not in the mood for a potential argument. These people will often insist "hE's fRieNdLy JuSt cHiLL" and I just don't have faith in them anymore, given my experience with dog owners who don't give a shit.

Today is my day off and I really did not want to ruin it by escalating. and anyway, it should NOT be on the person being dog-jumped to tell these entitled fucks to handle their large animals. they should know better.

oh, but he did manage to get his dogs to sit still for a stupid photo. I hope everyone hates your instagram post, you fucking asshole.
