Coffee or no coffee postpartum?
Did you have coffee daily postpartum, or did you prefer to go without to get some sleep?
I’ve still got a few months till my little one arrives, but I’ve been wondering if I should ween off of coffee before that happens. I was without any for a few months due to nausea, but now I’m drinking a small cup or two a day. I just generally function better with some caffeine. However, I know the advice is to sleep when the baby sleeps and that I’ll be going with barely any sleep for some time after the baby arrives. So I’m wondering if it’d be better just to get off coffee so that I can fall asleep easily when I need to, or if some coffee wouldn’t hurt and help me be a bit more functional during the part of the day. For reference, I’m the type of person that can’t sleep easily if I have any caffeine after noon.
Edit: Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences! It seems the overwhelming consensus is that I’ll be able to sleep regardless of how much coffee I drink. So I’ll just keep up with my current 1-2 small cups per day and adjust from there once the baby comes (of course will follow BF advice from my doctors on total caffeine intake).
