USA folk - how are you holding up?

I'm aware that after this weekend there's going to be a change of management in your domain. The transfer of power there is a lot different to here. You have an inauguration day, with weeks of transition whereas here in the UK it's more or less immediate. Therefore the shock of transfer is more immediate and despair and anxiety might be more sudden but I can't imagine what that would be like dragged out over a 6 week or whatever period.

For what it's worth I can't imagine life changing so dramatically for the majority of you. On a personal level this may or may not be a good thing but you're many and you're stronger than you think. Look after each other, be kind and rally against hatred. If a stranger needs some help, help them. Small acts of kindness are contagious and show others how better things can be. How, even in the throes of a bustling city, the simple act of helping a mother lift her child's stroller onto a train and then disappearing into the crowd will stay with her and comfort her that not everyone is against everyone else.

Unconditional cooperation is what makes us human. Caring for others is what makes us human. In English the words guest and host are cognate, as are hospitable and hostile, traced back thousands of years through language evolution. I'd rather be hospitable than hostile so I'd rather be kind than unkind. If you witness someone being hostile towards someone else's hospitality then shame them. Humiliate them into becoming humble and humane. If that fails then just ignore the fuckers. They don't deserve your energy.

I'm rambling again aren't I? Sorry, not sorry, I just wanted to say good luck you former colonists! I'll always try to find you a safe bed around my gaff.
