TIL Jim Thome's final career stolen base was a complete accident
On May 8, 2008, Thome was on first when Paul Konkero offered at a 3-1 pitch. The HP umpire called it a ball, but after some hesitation, Joe Mauer appealed and a strike was called.
However, Thome and Carlos Quentin had already advanced to the next base. The Twins were really confused, but since the play was never called dead, the stolen bases were upheld.
Thome hadn't stolen a base since 2002, and wouldn't steal another base across the final four years of his career.
Meaning if it wasn't for this accidental steal, Thome would've gone the last 10 years of his career without a steal
