Should we ban US Light Trucks? - "These Stupid Trucks are Literally Killing Us"

With a wave of larger and larger vehicles entering the Australian market, road death tolls rising and little to no investment in infrastructure to accommodate these vehicles, should Australia consider banning US Light Trucks similar to the EU?

Additional question - Is there a legitimate need for these vehicles or is there popularity image based?
