Is it Too Soon to Start Progesterone?
Hi everyone,
I’ve been on HRT off and on for almost 5 years now, and I’ve been consistently on estrogen since November 2023. Earlier this year, in January 2024, I found a local doctor that I really like. We developed a regimen that includes 6mg of oral estrogen (4mg in morning and 2mg before bed), 100mg of spironolactone, and 10mg of finasteride daily.
Yesterday, after discussing my progress with my doctor, she decided to add 100mg of progesterone to my regimen. She mentioned that based on her research and the guidelines she follows, 6 months into estrogen is an appropriate time to introduce progesterone, especially since I’ve shown good breast growth so far.
However, I’m feeling a bit uncertain about whether it’s too soon to start progesterone. I’ve read mixed opinions about the timing, and I’m hoping to hear from others who have been in a similar situation.
For those who have added progesterone to their regimen, how did it impact your transition? Did you start at a similar time, and if so, what was your experience? I’d appreciate any insights or advice you can share.
Thanks in advance for your help!
