Her newest short is on “why North Korean food is better than South Korean food” but cites reasons like “celebrating seasonality” and “simple flavors.” Crazy ways to describe food insecurity and import control. I get that the culture/cuisine is not completely tied with the regime, but there is no way in hell to discuss North Korean food without touching on the geopolitical issues that influences it, especially since food is such a large component of control.
