'Heroes are free, cosmetics are paid' is the current state of the industry, and I think Apex should join that.
I know a lot of people will buck against this because they feel it's 'unfair'. My argument would be they could give you some form of compensation for characters you bought, because this is the way it should have been from the start.
The F2P model for games like this has been better worked out since this game released, many games operate this way now, and Apex shouldn't hold itself back from that. I'm confident that this isn't just a trend, but how games of this type will be handled going forward.
It's way better for player retention, and makes the games feel less P2W.
I'm aware that this may not be the most urgent need for the game, but I definitely feel like it's an important step on the road to making it a real contender again.
Edit - To clarify, unlocked and accessible without a long grind is what we're talking about here. At the least I'd argue in favor of toning down the grind significantly.
