I like Angie…
… because I find her to be a fascinating character. I have read some (but not all) of the Will Trent books, and in them, she’s nothing more than a toxic character with no redeeming qualities. In the show, she’s much more complex. She can still be toxic, but not deliberately so. She cares deeply and goes out of her way to help young people facing things she’s faced, whether abuse, neglect, or addiction. That’s more than most people do for others outside their family. However, she’s dealing with so much of her own trauma that it clouds her judgment and leads her to making terrible decisions. She’s a great case study on the long term effects of childhood trauma, and how good intentions are not enough.
