Feel like I’m going to get blamed

So I was a part of a euthanasia about 3-4 weeks ago. This was in a slew of other ones that I was a part of did about 6 in a row. Anyways I brought the dog back to the owners after placing the catheter, and let them know to just let us know when they are ready. The doctor goes in by herself as she usually does. She comes out says give them some time then check on them. So I did. I walk in the man in inconsolable, and I walk them out the back door.

About 3 days ago the owners called and asked about the outfit that the pet was wearing. And said the doctor said we would get it off for them. Now the dr didn’t tell me anything so I just bagged and tagged like I always do. It was a huge dog so I had to have someone help me of course. And even the person that helped me didn’t hear the doctor tell me that the owners wanted the outfit back.

The doctor is currently on vacation and will be back Monday, now I’m worried I’m going to get in trouble for this because I don’t honestly remember her telling me this.

One of the managers on the floor said oh well we might have to check the cameras to make sure that you just didn’t hear her. I just said fine and left for the day at that point. The practice manager has also been out.

I’m already burnt out I feel like if I get in trouble for this it will push me over the already very precarious. And at this point I want to just walk out. But sadly I need this job if I’m about to go back to school.
