Thoughts About Unity Asset Store Packages and Future Support

I love Unity, and one feature that drew me to it was the asset store. It's very easy to find useful packages and assets to build from.

One issue I've run into is purchasing a package that isn't supported in later versions of Unity, or otherwise stops development, leaving bugs and other artifacts in the packages.

Lately, I've chosen to take the time to develop most packages I want to avoid this issue and have total control of versions support, but I am curious if others have run into this issue, and if this is a problem in the ecosystem that could be addressed in some way. Other "3rd party" app ecosystems seem to have similar problems, and it makes it difficult as a consumer to know what's a reputable package that will last, and which ones will be a waste of money in the long run. One of the benefits of open source tools is that someone in the community typically takes up the mantle if the owner stops development for some reason.

Side note - thank you to all the asset and package providers that provide updates! It's not easy, and you deserve praise and the compensation for your hard work.
