Have you ever been fetishized by men because of the state you’re from?

I’m from a South Indian state (ethnically), living in another South Indian state. There’s this one friend who liked me and I thought he was a good person and even tried to establish rapport with my brother. Turns out, he just likes me for my ethnicity. And he’s not the only person who did this. Many men make stereotypes on people (especially girls) from my state while girls from their own state look gorgeous.

Is it weird that I’m being uncomfortable with this? Have you also faced this?
