mike pence should sue donald trump for emotional distress and endangerment.

i do not like mike pence. he's a homophobe to an almost comedic degree, he signed the religious freedom restoration act that allowed businesses to refuse service to members of the LGBTQ community, and he's just another in a long list of republicans who think that america has no flaws whatsoever. that having been said, i am absolutely outraged by trump's attempts to scapegoat him.

after the 2020 presidential election, trump was leaning on pence very hard to overturn the election, an act that pence made abundantly clear to trump time and time again that he had no power to do and, even if he could, he wouldn't. trump's opinion on pence took a huge 108 and he repeatedly bad mouthed his vice president for having the integrity that he lacks. this all culminated in the infamous january 6th insurrection.

pence was at the capitol on the day of the insurrection and the rioters were out for his blood. they created a makeshift gallows near the capitol with the intention of hanging him. pence had to be evacuated out of the capitol for his safety. what makes this even worse is that pence's family was with him at the time. not only was pence in danger during the insurrection but so was his family, all for reasons that they had nothing to do with.

needless to say, pence has since cut all ties with trump and has reacted with outraged over his conduct in the aftermath of the 2020 election. in the build up to the 2024 presidential election, pence said that he couldn't call trump a good man and couldn't endorse him.

however, i don't think that pence is doing nearly enough to hold trump accountable for what he did. i think that pence should sue trump for emotional distress and child endangerment.

there is absolutely no way that being scapegoated by trump and having people build a gallows with the soul intention of hanging him didn't take an emotional toll on pence. how much are you willing to bet that, as the secret service guided him and his family out of the capitol building, all pence was thinking as "holy shit, i could fucking die"? and don't act like the rioters wouldn't have harmed him. putting the gallows aside, if they were willing to storm the capitol, do you honestly think murder would have been out of the question? and as for endangerment, well...come on.

pence would be well within his right to sue trump for his actions and i think he should. he should sue trump for emotional distress and endangerment. he should demand a million dollars and trump's immediate resignation from the office of president. not only that but pence should sue every single capitol rioter for those same things and demand that their pardons be overturned.
