(Loved trope) “You are not a monster.”
Blinky to Jim (Trollhunters): “When I gaze upon you, do you know what I see? I see a champion. A friend. A son. A magnificent son.”
Alex to George (Doctor Who): “Whatever you are, whatever you do, you are my son. And I am never sending you away.”
Alicia to Ben (Fantastic Four): “I don’t know. You feel alright to me, Benny.”
Fitz to Skye (Agents of Shield): “You’re just a little different now. There’s nothing wrong with that.”
Grandma to Red Riding Hood (Dimension 20: Neverafter): “The real friends, the ones who make miracles happen, they will see the wolf in you and love it too. You are not a monster.”
Maria to Shadow (Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings): “That’s not true. You have a big heart. I know it’s difficult for you to express it, but deep down, I know how much you care. About me, about everyone. What you do is what defines you.”
(Basically, the bones of the trope is that someone has some inhuman powers/abilities/appearance, believes they’re a monster but their loved one(s) support them and tell them otherwise. This trope makes me so fucking soft, I love it so much.)
