Thoughts on Eddie Vedder and Yarling

What are your thoughts on Eddie Vedder's singing? I feel like it is a rather polarizing thing as the yarling, as it became known, was one of the most divisive styles of singing during the 1990's and early 2000's. I know that other singers from around that time like the lead singer of Hootie and Stone Temple Pilots also were doing that. Then of course, there was Scott Stapp, the most egregious Vedder copycat in the early 2000's. Do you like this kind of singing?
