As far as I'm concerned these are NOT the same zombie

When that stupid tentacle alien parasite bullshit showed up in the Tess scene, I immediately lost interest in the show. How the hell does somebody get infected from that? They completely rewrote how the getting infected thing works as well, from a bite that sends mycelium into your bloodstream that gets to you brain that slowly labotomozes you to some fucking hentai fetish were spaghetti face pushes you against a wall and makes out with you. In my opinion, the infected were ruined.
