Some background on the decision to fire Slowik (the Chronicle)

In a nutshell:

DeMeco was the one who made the final call
the Christmas game result weighted heavily on DeMeco
offensive players expressed some frustrations behind the scenes
some people inside the building wanted Slowik gone during the bye, but DeMeco gave him a chance
nobody knew anything for sure, but there was a sense he was on a thin ice
the rest of the offensive staff will be evaluated when the new OC is hired
there’s no front runner, but possible names floating around the building are: Chip Kelly, Mike LaFleur, Nick Caley, Josh McCown and Mike McCarthy
