26 days away from my Model Y - Here’s what actually happened to the battery
I picked up my 2025 Model Y Long Range AWD around Christmas and immediately had to leave it parked for 26 days while traveling. Naturally, I spent my vacation low-key stressing over battery drain after seeing a few alarming posts here.
Well, turns out my worry was for nothing. The battery went from 80% to 74%—a modest 6% loss over nearly a month. This was in near-freezing temperatures, but the car was parked in a building garage with some regular activity around it.
For context:
- I checked the app 5-6 times (because curiosity).
- Once, I remotely disabled Sentry Mode to minimize drain.
TL;DR: Battery drain was minimal, even in cold temps. People are more likely to post about unusual issues, so don’t let those rare cases feed your anxiety. If you’re leaving your Tesla parked for a while, you’re probably fine!
Would love to hear others’ experiences with battery drain during extended trips. Similar results, or have you noticed anything different?
