What is your opinion on the pledge of allegiance?

Just this. I feel like it’s my right to sit or not say it, other teachers stop the high school students if they’re walking down the hallway or make them do it. In a public school, isn’t it my, and the student’s, right to not do it? Can admin yell at me? Why are some teachers giving nasty looks to those who don’t? It’s weird, and I don’t feel like pledging anything to America right now, even though it is a free public education, it still makes me uncomfortable. Thoughts?

So follow up: Thanks for the responses…more detail…the admin and teachers at my school will shout down the hallway “stop!” If students are trying to get to class during the pledge. They have to stand still. Is this legal? Does a school’s rule override the law?
