Target is Becoming the Worst Retail store that sells groceries.

For clarification, I enjoy working for target and I am trained in every department except deli and starbucks, along with Ulta. Target has become a joke and it’s disappointing to see, I have not worked at target as long as some other people but i heard it used to be even better, so it’s sad to see in the past year in a half the hours being cut to the point that we have 1 cashier until 2pm (at a supertarget that does over 150k) of sales on a regular day. The company has shifted focus back to AP in a way that requires we only have one self checkout side open. (our setup is 4 on produce side, 19 lanes, and 4 Home side self checkouts) Guests constantly complain and I tell them to leave bad reviews about how our store is poorly staffed to the point that I don’t understand why corporate employees have a job. IT IS A DISTAIN to target and shows how dumb they are, they cut variable costs, but at the cost of their customer base. Target shoppers already shop at competitors and eventually will realize their money is better spent somewhere else. At a store level you have no control and being a TL or an ETL is not something you should do as an outside hire because it’s genuinely embarrassing. Fulfillment is so terrible compared to what it could be as an order pickup service, Drive up is too convenient for the guest that it becomes an inconvenience to other guests, Home is always behind on freight because our team members are waking up at 3:00 to push freight for not even a full shift, might as well allow them to have a full nights sleep. Grocery is not where target makes it’s money, and the fact that stores can have 5 team leads in a negative department makes no logical sense to me considering this company loves to cut costs. Ulta and starbucks are decent work centers because they have contracts that require a certain amount of hours but i’m sure they’d cut them if they could. I used to be a naive target worker but as a business major who has taken majority of my business classes, and i’m not using it for anything besides credibility, I am 100% sure I could run this company better than half of corporate. They disconnect is the issue, they don’t come to stores to understand and help assist problems the stores are having, they come expecting a perfect store regardless of hours and at any cost.
