New diagnosis, insurance and confusion
Hi all,
Thank you so much for reading this. I am 35, live in the UK and have just found out I have a 2.5cm endometrioma on my ovary. I have always had bad painful periods, and general pelvic pain, previous tests all pointed to IBS (I now suspect it may have been endo!)
The last 6 months my periods had been even heavier and irregular and I was worried as me and partner just about to start TTC. Long story short after investigations they found this.
I am very lucky that I have medical insurance so can see a private endo specialist however the insurance company have stated they will pay investigations but not any treatment related to infertility. I'm not sure what the Dr will recommend with me already being 35 (perhaps straight to IVF if we struggle) but if they suggest lapertomy as an option is this classed as a fertility treatment.. I guess it sort of crosses into both treating my ongoing pelvic pain but also to try and treat a likely fertility issue? I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of this and what their insurers thought.
We have only tried for one month so far but after reading that my ovary means stage 3 I am worried we will struggle.
Wishing you all the very best with your journeys, and thanks again for reading.
From a very scared newly diagnosed.
