Was Sha're and the Harcesis storyline ultimately pointless?
I love Stargate SG-1. I grew up with them. My brother and I were fascinated by this serie. We truly love it.
But I cannot shake away the feeling that many plot treads / storylines were either cut short or amounted to nothing. For example, Sha're's capture, death and the birth Shifu, the Harcesis. Daniel couldn't save her and couldn't even get anything from Shifu, beside "understanding" there is some greater plane of existence and setting up is future enlightenment. It's like I was promised a cake but got a pie. The pie is good, but the tease of a cake left a distaste in my mouth.
Other examples: Jack and Sam's romance (or anyone's romance in general); Sam's use of goa'uld technologies such as the ribbon device. Wouldn't have been cool, or even logical, that Sam would go on missions with a ribbon device? She can use it, it's a formidable weapon and would have helped greatly in their battle against the goa'uld.
Don't get me wrong, I love Stargate SG-1. The serie is formidable. But as Shifu would have said: "nothing is perfect"
