Do you feel like your Somalinimo will die with you? (asking gen-z/millennials)
Meaning: Do you think you'll be able to pass on your somalinimo your kids? Is that even something of interest to you?
Many diaspora born after the war have little to no interest in ever going to Somalia or learning about our culture, history and language. For example, if I ask my cousins kid's "where's your mom" or "give me that napkin" in somali, they'll stare at me with a blank expression. They have lvl 0 comprehension, their parents spoke broken somali anyways but it's still really sad. I don't want my kids to not have any culture and just become cadaan or somali by name. What do you think are things we can do as a community to stop that from happening. Arabs and desis retain their culture after generations, yet within 30 years, ours is withering a way out here.
