Resizing the window

Basically I cannot play sims 4 while doing other things on my laptop. I used to be able to press the Windows key and the game screen would disappear then I could search something up and come back to the game. But now I cannot do that and the only way I can access Google is by exiting the sims 4 completely then reopening it. This means I can't change volume, look at build inspo etc... I've spent a lot of time googling but got no help at all so pls help?
