My "simple" plan for M20 during Skill Week
Howdy! Here's my easy to understand plan for reaching M20 during the upcoming Skill Week! (yes I understand that Skill Week is next week and I should have posted this days ago but here we are lol).
About me: I've been a premium player roughly since day 1 (532 days logged in) and consider myself skilled and knowledgeable but far from an expert. I would say I'm a casual but committed player that has figured out most things through trial & error, but definitely still doesn't know everything. I'm not a mathcord person lol
My Warning to those fighting for their first M20: M20 is a multi-week ordeal that you need to prepare and setup for. It won't happen casually. You'll likely need to sacrifice one or more weeks leading up to your attempt, stockpile ingredients, supplies, and be ready to spend all your resources.
So during the first New Years event week, I reached M20 on Greengrass for the first time after multiple attempts that ended at M18. If I had to point out the biggest factors that got me to M20, it would be finally getting a good Gardevoir for E4E + getting a Lv 60 favorite berry Pokemon (for me it was Berry Finder Feraligatr + Oran Berry).
For Skill Week, I'm going to aim for M20 on Cyan Beach. Cyan Beach is probably my strongest island because over my Sleep career, I've spent the most time there and a lot of my strongest Pokemon are Cyan Beach ones (e.g. my 2 strongest Pokemon are Feraligatrs).
So my plan boils down to:
- Get a good Gardevoir for E4E
- I used to use a pretty good Wigglytuff but let me tell you the difference between Wiggly and Gardevoir is MASSIVE. Gardevoir is ESSENTIAL. Mine isn't even perfect but is still so much better
- Keeping your team consistently at full strength is amazing not only for highest production throughout the day but also for being able to freely swap Pokemon in and out for ingredients
- Get at least 1 Lv 60 Pokemon for preferred berry + average team level of ~40+
- In general, would recommend a team loadout of 2 preferred berry, 1 E4E, and then used last two to swap for whatever required ingredients
- For Skill Week specifically, I will use 2 Feraligatrs, 1 Golduck, 1 Gardevoir, and rotate Ampharos in and out for ingredients as needed until Saturday/Sunday when I'll swap in Dedenne to maximize my Extra Tasty chance.
- turning a 60k dish into a 200k+ dish can literally be the difference in M20 or not
- I love using my Berry Finding Feraligatr as I get great berry counts + multiple hits of Lv. 7 Charge Strength
- Identify your preferred strongest dish possible & stock up on ingredients the week before
- For me, this would be Greengrass Salad as I can most easily collect the ingredients with my preferred team for Oran berry
- Would also recommend getting your ingredient bag count as high as possible so you can stockpile as much as possible
- I had an influx of ingredient tickets leading up to my first M20 week and those came in clutch multiple times, so if you can stock those up, do it and don't be afraid to spend them
- Re-roll + Good Camp Ticket
- Re-roll using E-Zzz Travel Ticket until you get the dishes / berries you're looking for. Hopefully you have a few tickets saved up or get lucky on your first roll!
- Use a Good Camp Ticket of course
- Once the week starts:
- Check often: It's Skill Week so you want to check as often as possible to maximize your skill trigger amounts
- Rotate your team: Keep an eye on your energy levels. You'll likely be doing a lot of rotating team members to fill in ingredient gaps or take advantage of different skills such as Ampharos or Dedenne
- Cook mf cook: try your hardest to only cook your best dish + not miss any meals + maximize your pot every time
- Be smart about your sleeping team: be strategic about sleeping your Berry specialists for sneaky snacking, high capacity ingredients you need, skills like Dedenne where you can wake up to 2 triggers then rotate out of your team, any skill / ingredient Pokemon that might be low on energy now and will be needed later in a pinch, etc.
So yeah, I think that's it! That ended up being a longer post than I thought lol but hopefully it helps someone out there :) I'll share pics of my team load out in the comments.
Now get some sleep!! >:)
