Any benefits to a slow-paced methodical playstyle?

I'm pretty new to PF (just reached rank 25). I'm a huge fan of the tactical FPS genre, so things like room clearing and checking corners are pretty normalised for me in fps games. Fast paced shooters like PF have became a challenge for me, since walking everywhere and slowly clearing rooms really isn't gonna get you anywhere. I like using guns that work for me (eg: AK-12, UMP-45) , not "meta" weapons that many people use. I find that in some close quarters maps like the hallways of Metro, walking with your gun ready can save your life a few times, but i don't know if there are any other upsides to playing the game slowly. Are there really any benefits to playing the game "slow-paced" (eg: walking, checking corners, not sprinting and slide cancelling everywhere)?
