Struggling with Weight Loss Without Calorie-Counting

Hi everyone!

I know that calorie tracking and maintaining a calorie deficit are key to weight loss, but tracking creates a lot of "food noise" for me. It makes me constantly think about food and sometimes even feel tempted to binge more.

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to be mindful of my food choices without using an app to track daily, but I haven’t lost any weight—I’ve just stayed the same. It’s been really discouraging, and I’m looking for new strategies.

I’d love to hear:

  • Do you have any alternatives to logging food in an app that have worked for you?
  • Are there any other tools or online resources you’ve used to stay on track?

Any advice on weight loss strategies that don’t rely heavily on calorie tracking would be so appreciated!

Some additional context:

  • 32Y/O F, 5’2”, and weigh 139.6 lbs
  • Goal: I’d like to get down to 120 lbs at a steady, sustainable pace. My wedding is in this Spring, so I’d love to shed a few pounds by then, but my main goal is healthy, long-term weight loss.
  • I take methimazole for thyroid issues (started in June 2024), which I know could affect my progress.
