Forced to quit?

My wife and I had the opportunity to move out of the GTA during the pandemic and we took it. We are now in a small town near family- I found work, she has been working remotely. She's just been given word that when the office opens back up in the fall, anyone who has moved away will be forced to quit. I think they are going to lose a lot of good people doing this, but that's their prerogative. My question is more about how she should handle this. She doesn't want to quit, likes the company, likes the work, and she's hitting all her deadlines. She is willing and able to do the work, she just can't physically be in the building. Does she have an argument here? If she finds a new job here and resigns, is she forfeiting any severance she may be entitled to?
