100k disappointing
I grew up in a small town where 100k a year seemed like the dream! I remember our local doctor making the sunshine list, and that seemed like an infinite amount of money.
Im now in my early 30s and just passed 100k a year. My wife earns low 70s.
We're not uncomfortable, but we're certainly not 'rolling in it'.
After the mortgage, bills, food, some savings etc we're lucky to have any extra fun money, it seems like we're just breaking even, never getting ahead.
Anyone else feel this way? We're aware of and avoid lifestyle creep, we both drive modest cars, shop the flyers, rarely eat out.
Im sure I could tighten our budget and squeeze out a bit, but nothing substantial.
Maybe 200k is the new dream? Maybe I should count my blessings and be grateful with what I have? Maybe we should move to a lower cost of living area?
