Act 1 fatigue/rest/timing

I'm in Market Square and all my folks are fatigued, I feel like I just started the act, but I was warned some stuff might be time sensitive... how judicious do I need to be about resting when I'm fatigued/how big of a deal is it to keep going if I am?
