Was overwatch 1 actually better than overwatch 2?

I personally have never played overwatch 1 but I have some friends who have and say it was way better than overwatch 2. I just want to know other peoples thoughts on this matter because I've heard some bad things abt overwatch 1 like goats, brig zen being hard meta, brig was just op in general, double shield and stuff like that. I personally feel like overwatch 2 hasnt had super bad things to play against besides the mauga, orisa and hog metas were kinda bad but you could still play around them.
