Do men like when the girl takes initiative?

The guy I went on a date on initiated, planned the date and payed and everything. However, I texted him a few days later asking to FaceTime and he agreed! However, I’m a little confused because I keep hearing all these things about how the guy should always text and stuff and staying in your “ feminine energy.” Personally, I’m a very direct person and if I like you I show interest. Is this wrong? What do you guys prefer? Is it a turn off when a girl texts first? I also figured it was okay since he planned the whole date first. what do men think?
