What's the deal with Chair Companies like Lifeform and Neutral Posture?
There are quite a lot of companies that make office chairs. There are a smaller amount of companies that make very customizable office chairs. And then there's a subset of *those* companies that are apparently decently-sized companies, but very little information can be found about them, especially reviews!
For the purposes of this post, I wanted to discuss 2 of these last types of companies: Lifeform and Neutral Posture. They're not exactly the same type of company, but I think the argument could be made that they're similar in the sense that both of them make office/executive chairs that are highly customizable with similar mechanisms (tons of levers, adjustments, and mostly exposed mechanisms). I've mainly been looking at Neutral Posture for a chair that would be good for someone such as myself that has spinal disc herniation/sciatica.
For those who have been in this game for a long time: why are there so few reviews/such little information for Lifeform chairs? There's comparatively not that much information for Neutral Posture chairs, but at least they're sold on a much wider level in the U.S. than Lifeform.
Finally, and I know this is rather subjective: what's the deal both Lifeform and Neutral Posture, as well as OM Seating and others, just having so much of their hardware completely visible/exposed to the elements? Especially in comparison with Herman Miller or Haworth, Steelcase and the like. It seems weird to me that a company whose chairs are so expensive and customizable wouldn't even attempt to hide the under-seat mechanisms.
