Is the game too easy?

I just got the game and played non stop for a weekend, wasn't this hooked since championship manager 01/02.

Anyway I started a standard career and by year 2 I finished League 2 with a record of 43-2-1, 130+ goals scored and won the cup beating two PREM teams with just two silver players and rest bronze. Is this expected? I assumed there would be a huge difference in games with gold/black players and was ready to be dominated by PREM teams, but the easy cup win caught me off guard, it's just so easy to score when you have the chance.
