Baby clicking at bottle - no tongue tie
Hi all - I’m in desperate need of any advice you may have. About 3 weeks ago, my 10.5 week old started clicking pretty often at the bottle - I’m talking every other suck/swallow is accompanied by a click. We’ve had trouble with breastfeeding from the start (inefficient feeder) so I’m mostly pumping and bottle feeding, and nursing once a day/comfort nursing here and there.
Because of the issues with breastfeeding, we had her checked for tongue ties pretty early on. The pediatrician, an ENT, lactation consultants from three different companies, and a pediatric dentist who specializes in ties all agreed she had no lip or tongue ties and her tongue mobility is great.
When we first bottle fed, there was no issue with clicking. But ever since it began 3ish weeks ago, I’ve tried all types of bottles (dr browns wide and narrow necks, comotomo, laninsoh) and nipple sizes (1 and 2 on each bottle). For the size 2 nipples, she clicks a bit less (still a lot though) but chugs those in like 5 mins even if we pace feed and doesn’t realize she’s full, but clicks more with level 1 nipples. Regardless, she’s clicking with every combination!
Had anyone else experienced this? If so what type of bottle do you like? My pediatrician referred me to an occupational therapist - has anyone else been helped by an OT for swallowing/feeding issues?
I’m just really tired of googling and researching and everyone just points to it being a tongue tie…but we’ve had her checked by so many people!
