13 year old asking TMI questions

Hi everyone! I was super happy I found this group. I’m 21 and have been a nanny for 6 years. I’ve been with my current NF for 2.5 years. My NK are now 13,10 and 6.

The 13 yr old is in 7th grade and learning all about sex, guy parts, girl parts, romantic relationships, porn, all that! She doesn’t feel comfortable talking to her parents about those topics, so she will often try to have a “private conversation in her room.” Her mom did buy her a book that covers the basics but she still comes to me with clarifying questions.

My rule is I never answer personal questions. So she can’t ask me if I’ve done this or that. BUT the guideline I set is I will either “confirm or deny” if something she asks is true. I don’t want her walking around with false or warped ideas about romantic relationships. She can ask, “Is it true that __,” or “My friend told me ___.” I’ll either say yes that’s true or no that’s not true.

I guess my question to my fellow nannies is am I handling this in the right way? Should I not discuss things with her at all? Should I give her more factual information?
