Will the Knicks Trade Mitch Rob?
Hear me out:
People might say this is an overreaction, and it might be. But OKC looked decent against us on the 2nd night of b2b because they blew the Clippers out (no starters played more than 30 minutes) and ran a 10-man lineup against us. The minutes have been an issue all season, and on back-to-back nights, injury scares have occurred. KAT limped at the end today, and OG's violent fall on his elbow. If we lose even one of those guys, we currently don't have a great replacement because our bench is way too thin.
All of our starting 5 ranks in the Top-16 of the minutes played this season. Bridges, Hart, Brunson, and Anunoby all rank in the Top-6!!! Our next highest tally is McBride, nearly 500 minutes less than KAT (who ranks 16th in the NBA in minutes)
Sacramento has 3 in the Top 20, while Indiana, Boston, and Atlanta have 2.
Top 8 Teams in the NBA:
Cleveland (30-4) has 1 player in the Top 50.
Boston (26-9) has 3 in the Top 50.
Orlando (21-15) has 1 in the Top 50.
OKC (29-5) has 2 in the Top 50.
MEM (23-12) has none in the Top 50.
HOU (22-12) has 5 in the Top 50.
DEN (20-14) has 3 in the Top 50.
All of the teams leading their respective conferences (except the Knicks) have a much cleaner distribution of minutes across the board. Yes, some of them have worse records, but that could also be a byproduct of a harder schedule, something we will deal with from now till the end of the year.
Their's rumors teams are asking about his health, and I would love to do a 1-2 for Mitch Rob. Yes, the individual players might be worse than him, but if their aggregate is as good, then we get a similar level of production while also getting more depth and bodies.
