How to better support partner with MS?

Hey everyone!

Just wanna say thank you bc I’ve already learned so much in this thread!

Anyways, my boyfriend has been dealing with MS symptoms since last year. Started with losing feeling in hands and feet, which thankfully all came back. Now we’re dealing with optic neurosis first in the left eye and now starting in the right. The first time with the left eye, he was put on steroids for a week and just hated how he felt on them and detoxing. His vision is almost back all the way now! This allowed him to get the diagnosis we needed to move forward with medication. However after the steroids he’s decided he doesn’t want to take the pills they gave him and doesn’t want to go back to the doctor. We have been trying to maintain a healthy, anti-inflammatory diet and keep active throughout the week but I worry it is not enough now that it’s happening in his right eye too.

He doesn’t like to share his new symptoms with me bc I tend to remind him of the diet stuff and vitamins, and just end up stressing him out more. I just worry that we’re not doing enough and will cause the MS to keep flaring up.

Does anyone manage their MS without medications? And how can I be more supportive while not putting too much on his plate? Has anyone had luck with naturopathic doctors? I want to be the person he comes to with his worries, not someone he avoids talking to about these things.
