Water birth gone terribly wrong

I swear I read this story and I’m trying to find it to tell my husband about it.

It was something about a pro-water birth person who either had their baby or who’s wife had a baby at home and thought that the baby would be fine if left underwater as long as the umbilical cord wasn’t cut. They left the newborn underwater for way too long.

The result was terrible and this person was either a doula or some sort of expert on water births.

I’m obviously hazy on the details.

I can’t find the story anywhere and now I’m wondering if I fell for a fake story.

I’m not judging anyone for a water births I promise, we were just discussing how babies are born with a reflex to hold their breath and how they can be taught to swim at early ages, etc. and I remembered this story.
